Dear parents and carers,

Year 5 and 6 Visit to Flambards:

Next Wednesday 21st September Years 5 and 6 will be visiting the ‘Britain in the Blitz’ exhibition at Flambards, Helston to help make this term’s ‘World War 2’ topic come alive.

All members of Porthcurno (Y6) and Porthmeor (Y5) classes will have received full details concerning this educational visit.

Please ensure that all of your child’s possessions are named as we have had several items of missing uniform this week. If items are not named it is difficult to return to owner.

BOOK SALE – Monday 19 September after school in the playground (hall if wet) sale of used books in good condition 20p each.

AGM-Friends of the School PTA: All parents are members of the Friends of the School who organize an Autumn and Summer event to raise funds for much needed equipment that will benefit all children in school. This year we will are hoping to buy additional books for the library (which the children have requested) as well as other suggestions made by our school parliament. Anyone interested in finding out more is welcome to come along to the AGM which will be held at the school on Monday 26th Sept at 2.30pm.

PARKING BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL – Please could you kindly park considerately when dropping off and picking up pupils from school and ensure that access is kept clear for our neighbours’ properties. Thank you.

Swimming: Our weekly swimming sessions, which continue throughout the school year, undoubtedly result in our school achieving well above national expectations. Grateful thanks to the parents who unfailingly contribute (as evidenced within each class’ swimming money registers). The school will continue to provide for the cost of pool hire/lifeguard cover. We ask for parents continued support in order to sustain this outstanding swimming provision which results in our school’s outcomes far exceeding national expectations. Parents are welcome to pay for the whole term (10 sessions- £15 or £7.50x2) if this is more convenient.

Birthday Cakes: Thank you to the many parents/carers who send in birthday cakes to help their children’s class share birthday celebrations. Could we respectfully ask that these birthday treats take the form of an individual cake/bun/cupcake to facilitate equal shares for all and ease administration at the busy end of the school day. Thank you.

Payment of dinner monies: In order to continue to provide our school meals at an affordable price we request that all dinner money should be paid by the end of the week in which the meal(s) have been taken up, either on a Monday or Friday. Thank you.
