Dear parents and carers,

Camborne Music Festival: Our school choir delivered an outstanding performance yesterday and won first place in their group, winning the Marion Williams Shield for the second consecutive year. The judges commented on their smart appearance and how much they obviously enjoyed their singing. They also commented on their great dynamics and modulation, their clear diction and the energy with which they used to achieve such a strong performance for which they were also awarded a Certificate of Distinction. Congratulations to all choir members- we felt very proud listening to your wonderful singing. We would like to thank Philip and Jane Chant for their great work with the choir and all those family and friends who supported us at Camborne.

Christmas Tea at the Academy with Talent Café: Don’t miss out on booking your table! A limited number of tickets for this event, to be held in the school hall on Thursday 24th November at 2.30pm, will be on sale from the school office from next Monday priced at £5/person. Your ticket will book a place at one of our tables where you will be treated to delicious afternoon Christmas Tea whilst enjoying entertainment provided by our talented students performing in a Talent Café. Everyone is welcome to enjoy a range of stalls in Penberth class including Christmas Crafts, 50:50 uniform sale, Lucky Dip, books and toys and other light refreshments will be available in the hall. Don’t miss the excitement of our staff ‘Hoola Hoop’ challenge or the Grand Auction which begins at 4pm. ‘It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas’ is the theme of our afternoon this year…various hampers will be auctioned (sealed bids will be accepted prior to the event) whilst our Lucky Square Raffle prize will be a Luxury Christmas Hamper. Lucky Squares will cost £1 and are also available from next Monday at Reception. Thank you for your support in providing many of the items needed to make up the hampers. The Friends of the School are working hard to sort final arrangements for the afternoon and would welcome any offers of assistance (maybe for an hour slot?). If you are able to help please contact any of the Friends or let the school office know. Thank you.

Spotacular Friday 18th Nov- Children in Need: We will support this worthy cause with a ‘Spotty’ Non- Uniform Day- suggested donation £1.

Cross Country League: On Monday our cross country team travelled to St Ives Rugby Club for their next event. In the bitter cold we achieved some great results! Most noticeably, Joby who won the year 4 race and Molly, who was a first time runner and our only year 6 girl to take part. Everyone put in so much effort and it's great to see so many having a go, it is especially pleasing to see so many new runners! At the moment we are in third place in the team event, the new standings have not been announced yet. A huge thank you to all of the runners, and to parents who came to support them! Football League:On Wednesday our football team played their first fixture of the season. They played some great football and the effort levels were superb. Elliot made some great saves in goal but it wasn't enough as our opponents, St Michael’s, won the game. Speaking to their teacher afterwards, he said that he could pick six different teams, their school is that big! So I think the football team deserves a huge well done for their efforts and for playing in the correct spirit. Furthermore, both teams impeccably observed a minute's silence for Remembrance Day. Well done! J.M.

Armistice Day: We remembered the fallen with a two minute silence in school today as timetabling issues due to swimming meant that we were unable to observe the two minute silence at the village war memorial as usual. We would remind you, however, of the Remembrance Day gathering at 11am this Sunday 13th November when many from the village observe the silence together.

High 5s: Our next League match against Newlyn School will take place at Mounts Bay Sports Centre next Tuesday 15th Nov at 3.40pm. Team players will have received full details.

Plastic Peanut Butter Jars: Mrs K would be very grateful to receive any empty, washed peanut butter jars. They can be handed in directly at Penberth Class or at school reception.
