I am the Year 3/4 Class teacher and English lead. I have been teaching here at St. Buryan Academy for 7 years but before that I taught in London, St. Ives and Paignton providing me with a wide variety of experiences. I love teaching English and History and I am passionate about reading. When not in the classroom, you can find me in the Forest School garden or out and about - I love our residential trips to London and the Isles of Scilly.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, out walking the beautiful Cornish cliffs or swimming in the sea (yes even in the winter).

Boscawen-Un Class
We the are the Year 3/ 4 class here at St. Buryan made up of 10 Yr 4 and 6 Yr 3.  In the afternoons we are joined by Year 5/6 who we enjoy sharing our learning with and wowing them with our knowledge.  Mrs Butterfield and Mrs Tesdale support us with our learning across the week and we also enjoy our lessons with Mrs. Ayotte, Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Macdonald.
Frozen Kingdom
Our Autumn Term topic is geography based, where children learn about the coldest places on Earth, focusing on the Arctic and Antarctic. Pupils explore where these polar regions are located using maps and globes, compare them to the UK, and learn about key physical features such as ice caps, glaciers and extreme weather. The topic also introduces the famous explorer Ernest Shackleton, helping children understand how people have explored and survived in these harsh environments. Children learn about animals adapted to cold climates, including polar bears in the Arctic and penguins in the Antarctic, and discover how both wildlife and humans depend on these unique frozen landscapes.
Stone Age to Iron Age
In our Spring Term unit, children learn about prehistory in Britain, and how we find out about prehistory. They discover what life was like through each of the main time periods of the Stone Age, right through to the Iron Age. Children find out about how civilisation started, how agriculture became a huge driving force for things like stone circles to be built and how different metals such as bronze and iron changed the way we interacted with each other and created huge defensive earthworks that we can still see and walk today.
