Dear parents and carers,

E- Safety information Meeting for Parents/Carers: Next Monday 10th October

Please join us and take advantage of this great opportunity for parents and carers to be advised of the very latest information about internet safety. The E-Safety talk will take place at 2pm in the school hall and will be delivered by Jane McFall, an expert in Internet Safety. All parents/carers are encouraged to make every effort to keep their children safe online.

Pirate FM Competition: We are delighted to announce that a St Buryan Y6 team won first prize in the recent Jingle Competition run by PirateFM at Humphry Davy School. Well done Rosie, Freesha and Morvah who have secured a visit for their whole year group to the PirateFM station. Congratulations also to Nathan, Edward, Tom and Harrison who won second prize and to Tom, James and George who were third! We are very proud of Y6’s amazing effort, which swept the board, and in hearing that our group was well focused and behaved impeccably throughout the experience. Y6 will be reporting back after their visit.

Visit Parliament Workshops and Assembly: Last week a representative from the Parliament Outreach Team visited school. After an assembly which investigated the British Electoral System, Roz the representative, led workshops with Y3-6 investigating how Laws are made and held a Debate to show how the debating system works within the Houses of Parliament.

Choir Festival: Our school choir will be performing this afternoon at St Buryan Church. They are the first performers in the St Buryan Choirs Festival which takes place this weekend.

Friends of the School (PTA): Next Tuesday afternoon at 2pm the Friends of the School will be meeting at school to discuss forthcoming activities. Everyone welcome to come along.

Shoebox Appeal: The school will be again collecting shoeboxes for the Shoebox Appeal; full details in next week’s newsletter.

Recorders: If anyone has any descant recorders that they are willing to donate to school for a new recorder group, please drop them in at our Reception. Thank you.

Any old wellies? Mrs Kwiatkowska is collecting old wellies, walking boots etc. and in a variety of sizes to use as planters. Please leave any donations in the enclosed play and learning area outside Reception Class.

Hallowe’en Disco: Dust the cobwebs off your broomsticks and start preparing those scary costumes! This year’s ever popular Hallowe’en themed disco will be held on Friday 21st October 7-8.30pm. Admission is £2 and includes water and a Scary Snack! Costumes welcome but not compulsory but a prize for the scariest dresser!

Cross Country- our next League meeting is next Monday at Mounts Bay. The team have received full details.
